A more thorough description of Europe

I posted a few geek pictures from Europe a bit ago. Mainly it was because I hadn't gone through all of the pictures and didn't know what all I wanted to share and that was because I didn't have all my pictures. I forgot my SD card and was using my friend's for most of London until I bought one of my own. He took his back, and we finally traded pictures today. So here they are: my favorite pictures and stories from Europe. There may be a few repeats from the geeking out in Europe post, but oh well. It's cause I like them a lot and I geek out a lot.

A few disclaimers: 1. There are lots of pictures here. 2. They may not be in the right order chronologically. I'm sure no one reading this cares, but I do so I'm pointing it out. 3. Some of them are crooked and I haven't straightened them yet. But I was keeping my camera steady on things that weren't a tripod and therefore not straight.

This was one of the first things we saw when we got off the Tube after dropping our stuff off. It was amazing. Also, let me tell you how tired I was this morning. We left Utah at 9:30ish AM on Sunday. SLC to Boston, Boston to London. I tried sleeping on the second flight, but I didn't have a whole lot of luck. We got there at 6:45 AM on Monday (local time). We went through customs, dropped our stuff off, and went out exploring. As you can tell, we got to Big Ben at 11:00 AM. We decided to go as long as we could that day. The jet lag was awful. By about 5 I was completely wiped out and slept the whole night.

Two very awesome things about this door. First, it has a doorknob in the middle of the door like Bag End. Lots of places in the UK had these, but it was still fun to see. Second, it's TARDIS blue. Thus, picture worthy.

Westminster Abbey

A statue of Abe Lincoln. Don't know why, but it was there in London.

I was really hoping Inspector Spacetime and Constable Reggie would step out, but they didn't.

Another statue of an American president. They must like our presidents over there. Generally speaking.

This was the view from St. James. It's the walking bridge the Death Eaters destroyed in Harry Potter and the Globe Theater replica.

Another view from St. James. Such a pretty city.

Tower of London

This was Henry V's armor in his early days. He had a really big horse.

Henry V's armor in his earlish days. Not too huge yet.

And this is Henry V's armor in his later days. Considerably bigger, and he apparently decided to protect his *ahem* baby maker.

This is not London Bridge. Common misconception. It's Tower Bridge. And it's totally awesome.

The Hipsta Bar. The Hipster Bar was too mainstream.

Daleks are trash cans now.

I found a TARDIS at Earl's Court (didn't see the Earl, but that was to be expected since I didn't see any of London Below).

I was really excited about it. I knew there was one around and told the guys I was with to keep their eyes open for a big blue box. "Like that one?" I squealed.

I love the TARDIS.

This was Bath. Ever seen Persuasion? Imagine this square with people dressed in 19th century garb and Captain Wentworth and Anne Elliot standing on the sidewalk. TOTALLY THE SAME PLACE!

I just like this sign.

I also liked this sign. This was in Cardiff. Welsh is a crazy language.

Also in Cardiff. I like Poundland better than the Dollar Store.

In Cardiff Castle. They were a little bit racist.

The Manor at Cardiff Castle.

The fortress at Cardiff Castle.

The view of Cardiff from the fortress. Cardiff is totally underrated. I loved it there.

Few people will get this, but I love this picture.

Cardiff Bay. That restaurant at the end of the pier is where the Doctor, Rose, Captain Jack, and Mickey ate lunch one day.

Spoiler if you haven't watched Torchwood yet. Ianto dies. It's sad. Really sad. Cause I love Ianto. I love the fun relationship he and Captain Jack have. Anyway, this is where he died in the show.

Another plaque for Ianto.

This is the public entrance to Torchwood Cardiff. It's also a shrine to Ianto.

The restaurant again, this time with me looking really excited.

The square where Torchwood's secret entrance is.

It was unreal to see this in real life. Torchwood's secret entrance, the rift, and it reminded me of the Slytheen too.

Torchwood's secret entrance. Usually the tall structure has water running down it, but I guess they had it off for the winter even though we were there in May. I tried standing right in front of it, but it didn't work for me. I'm sure Captain Jack was down there laughing at me. Or maybe he wasn't. I haven't seen any Torchwood since Children of Earth. They may have relocated.

This was the Cardiff police station. Where Gwen Cooper used to work. I took this picture hastily from a bus.

London again. This was probably the coolest sushi place ever.

For Mom

All these need is a child saying, "are you my mummy?" Steven Moffat has made me afraid of gas masks.

This is a horrible picture, but it was also taken hastily from a train. But that's a blue box that says London Transport. It's not the Doctor, but maybe the Master? He could have found a TARDIS...

Winston Churchill's bowler hat.

Winston Churchill's cigar.

Winston Churchill's timey-wimey detector. Well, not his. He probably borrowed it from the Doctor.

This was as close to 10 Downing Street as we could get.

Abbey Road Studios. They don't let you go past the gate.

My addition to the shrine outside the studio.

Sara Court. Right on Abbey Road. That's for you, sis.

They spelled Taun Taun wrong.

Sherlock Holmes Museum! We didn't go inside cause it was expensive and apparently not worth it, but still. 221 B Baker Street!

And the address.

And the plaque.

This was the best part. I got to take a picture with Sherlock's hat and pipe.

And down the street was the Beatles Store.

CCTV. Big Brother watches you everywhere in London. Seriously, everywhere.

Sherlock statue.

London Eye. I'm pretty sure I was standing right where Rose and the Doctor were standing in their very first episode when they figure out where the Nestene Consciousness was hiding. Also, I think that building to the left is the hospital where Martha Jones was doing her internship. Can you guess how much I was geeking out in London and Cardiff?

This and all the pictures below are from my ride on the London Eye. I walked up the Thames at night on my own and rode the Eye. It was amazing. Totally worth the 19 pounds. London is a beautiful city and it was breathtaking at night from the Eye.

And back on the ground. I have a lot of pictures like this one. Next time I go to London I'm taking my tripod and my digital SLR that I don't own yet.

A DALEK! It was quite a feat to find this one. I knew it was in the bookstore in Picadilly Circus (or maybe it was Oxford Circus...). I walked into the giant bookstore and wandered around looking for it with no luck. Finally, after about 20 minutes I saw it's head at the top of the staircase. I started walking towards it, but there was a gate that stopped me. I went down and sheepishly asked an employee if I could go up. They have me the code to the gate and I got to see the Dalek. SO AWESOME!

This was a horrible picture, but it was on the timer and apparently the flash didn't think it needed to go off. I didn't want to try for another one cause I felt like I wasn't supposed to be there in the first place anyway. The top floor was definitely not for customers.

Dial 999. Or is it 0-118-999-88199-9119-725-3?

More Daleks! This was in the back room of the Who Shop. I spent a good 60 pounds there ($90), but it was totally worth it. It was an extra 2 or 3 pounds to go into the back room where they have a bunch of props from the store and there was no way I was missing that. The way to the back room was through a TARDIS. An actual one used on the show. You couldn't take pictures up front, but the kid working there gave me the key to the TARDIS and I opened the door! AH! Seriously, that was a crazy awesome moment. Turning the key and opening the door to the TARDIS. Let's ponder how much I still geek out over that one moment. That alone was worth more than the cost of admission. Anyway, these Daleks were in the back room and used on the show. Awesome!

Vincent Van Gough's costume.

K9!

Captain Jack's coat and his Vortex Manipulator. I want to meet John Barrowman a lot...

One of Tom Baker's costumes.

Paris! The Eiffel Tower was the first place we went when we got there.

View from the first floor

View from the top

I loved this. So much.

Me being buff in front of the palace at Versailles. Or is the palace Versailles?

At the Orsay Museum. I liked this one better than the Louvre. I could have spent all day in the Van Gough room. This is the first of my illegal pictures.

And the second. I was able to sneak I think 3 pictures of this one. It's one of my favorites. And look in the windows - no Krafayis! The Doctor and Amy really did go back and see Vincent!

Arc de Triomphe. I like how the cars lined up so nicely for this shot.

Me and the Arc de Triomphe.

Views from the Arc. Paris was one of the most beautiful cities I've ever been too. Scratch that. It's absolutely the most beautiful city I've ever been to. And the people were great. I was expecting them to be all pompous, but as long as you aren't the stereotypical American tourist being loud and annoying and assuming everyone speaks English, Parisians are super nice and helpful. At least they were for us.

We just stumbled upon this.

Dotre Dame!

I loved these gargoyles so much!

The view from the top. And whenever I talk about the view from the top of things, bare in mind we walked up stairs every time. Europe doesn't really believe in elevators or escalators. I probably climbed more stairs in these three weeks than I have the whole rest of my life combined.

This one was my favorite gargoyle for some reason.

Outside the courtyard to The Louvre.

Inside the courtyard of The Louvre. It was exciting.

I have no idea how Brian was able to get this shot without anyone else in it. There were people everywhere.

The glass reflected the sun onto the palace and had a crazy awesome effect.

Venus de Milo. Incredibly beautiful.

A Ceasar. Or is it a Time Lord? (If you still aren't picking up, it looks exactly like Christopher Eccleston, only his ears stick out more).

Winged Victory. Another breathtaking statue.

Mona Lisa, Mona Lisa, men have named you... Huge crowd here.

Liberty Leading the People. This painting inspired the Statue of Liberty. Love it.

Michelangelo's Dying Slave. The man was incredible.

Michelangelo's Rebellious Slave. Seriously amazing.

THERE'S AN ASTERIX PARK?! "No, this is the IVth floor, we want the VIth"

Awesome graveyard in Paris. Rossini (duba dum, duba dum, duba dum, dum dum!)

Jim Morrison (Come on baby, light my fire!)

Chopin (I can't think of a song that I could write out here. Just go listen to his music)

Edith Piaf (Non, rien de rien. Non, Je ne regrette rien)

Gertrude Stein. She wrote books and stories, not songs.

Oscar Wilde. Importance of Being Ernest, among other things. His grave had a partition because people kept vandalizing it.

Weeping angels?

Weeping angel...

WEEPING ANGELS!

Florence. Stunning city, especially at night.

My illegal picture of The David. Another place I could have stayed all day.

People in Florence are kind of racist.

Illegal picture of the Birth of Venus

Cinque Terre. We spent the day hiking a lot, even in the rain. Gorgeous. Every last bit of it, gorgeous.

I think this was Manarola. But we hiked from Manarola to Corniglia... I think.

The empty beach. It was stormy most of the day.

Monterosso, the northern most town.

Lemons! Lemon trees were everywhere. We even had lemon gelato made from local lemons. Speaking of lemons, I need to describe the smell of this place. Lemon blossoms, basil, salt, rain, honey suckle, and all the beautiful smells you can think of.

Leaving Monterosso and hiking to Vernazza.

Vernazza from a distance

Closer

And closer

Vernazza had a big flood and mud slide several months before and they were still cleaning up. This house was completely demolished. I could see pictures of Miles Davis and Louis Armstrong on the wall.

This was hiking from Riomagiorre to Manarola. I think...

Rome!

The arch in the Forum. This depicts the Romans carrying the Arc of the Covenant out of Jerusalem.

They had rodeos in ancient Rome too...

Rafael's tomb in the Pantheon.

My brain exploded a little when I saw this.

One of my favorite sculptures - Laocoon and His Sons

I bet you didn't know Sylvester Stalone was alive the same time Rafael was.

Pieta

MORE WEEPING ANGELS! THE ANGELS HAVE ST. PETER'S!

And for some reason these pictures ended up at the bottom. Back to Britain! We didn't go to Liverpool, but we stopped off at Liverpool Street!

This is everyone that went from your right: me, Stuart (Brian's brother), Tiffer (Stuart's friend), and Brian (my friend). I didn't know Stuart or Tiffer before this trip. It made for... fun times :)

CARDIFF! I was so happy to be there.

In the stocks at Cardiff Castle.

Stuart and I walking across Abbey Road. I'm glad at least one other person there liked the Beatles as much as I did.

Me at Abbey Road

And again

Me with a cop. Brian made me take a picture with him. The guy was really cool about it.

Versailles. This was the room where the angry mob took Queen Antoinette. And for some reason that means I'm doing a thumbs up?

On top of the Arc de Triomphe.

Me admiring David. Cause it's very admirable.

Monterosso

And me in the Mediterranean. It was freezing so I wore leggings and a shirt in addition to my swim suit and didn't go in much further than you see here.

Yay! That's all! Well, not all. I took about 1500 pictures in all and I have all of the pictures Brian took as well, so I have a lot of pictures. But yay, that's all I'm going to post!

In which I talk about Doctor Who... again

This is a fantastically long post. I'm sorry. But not sorry enough to not post it.

There's a meme going around. Actually, there are a lot of memes always going around. This particular one is The Doctor Who Challenge or 30 Days of Doctor Who. It gives you 30 questions to answer, one for each day of the month. Well, writing a little blurb about Doctor Who every day for 30 days really doesn't seem like a challenge to me so I'm going to answer every question right now, at 11:09 PM on a Wednesday night. Yes, I do work in the morning and no, I don't care that I'll be tired. I want to do this dumb "challenge" and write about Doctor Who.

Disclaimer to hard core fans pre-2005, I apologize. I'm slowly making my way through the older episodes, but 99% of my Doctor Who experience has been post 2005 era.

If you haven't seen any of Doctor Who, first of all, start watching it right now. Second, this does have a couple big spoilers, especially in "Saddest Episode" so don't read that. The rest are pretty mild.

1. Favorite Doctor

Easy. David Tennant. Number ten. He wasn't my first Doctor, but he'll always be my Doctor. Like many fan girls I quickly fell in love with the tenth Doctor's charm, wit, and oh so skinny physique. Then I started finding out more about David Tennant (as fan girls so often do) and found out he was a total nerd. If I was a home wrecker, I'd wreck his home.

2. Favorite Companion

A little less easy, but still fairly simple. Donna Noble. I know she gets flack for being abrasive, but I still love her.

First of all, Catherine Tate! Come on! She's had a horrible introduction to American audiences, but it's because of the miserable writing staff on The Office. She's hilarious.

Second, she is the first companion in the post-2005 era who doesn't fall in love with The Doctor. This is my biggest pet peeve with the Russell Davies years. Rose, the tree lady, Madame de Pompadour, Martha, the maid on the Titanic who is apparently a famous singer, the girl in Planet of the Dead, Captain Jack, EVERYONE freaking falls in love with The Doctor. I was fine with Rose and Captain Jack can do no wrong in all honesty, but it really does get tiring when every single person he meets falls head over heels. It makes me wonder if Davies is secretly in love with David Tennant. Anyway, Donna is the first and only companion (minus Rory) to not fall in love with the Doctor at some point. Amy has a blip and I appreciate them not exploring that further. She and Rory are a very close second to favorite companion, but I realized it's the ensemble of Amy, Rory, and the Doctor that I love so much. I like them all independently, but I love that ensemble.

Third, I really do like her character. She grows so much over the course of the fourth season while still keeping her spunk. I just all around like her a lot. Thus, single favorite companion is Donna.

3. Least Favorite Companion

I'm sorry to say this, but my least favorite companion is Martha. And I really do hate saying that. She's a doctor, she's smart, brave, selfless, and just all around awesome. She only has one flaw, and yes it has to do with number 2. She's constantly pining after the Doctor. One kiss (that he prefaced with a "this doesn't mean anything"), and she spends a year of her life complaining and whining because he doesn't like her. GET OVER IT! I place full blame on Davies. Because, let's face it. If she was better written, Martha could have been a badder ass than she already was.

4. Favorite Villain

Hands down, the Master. No one else can pull off being that bat-shit crazy, lovable, hilarious, and mad scary at the same time. I hope he comes back soon.

5. Favorite Alien

Weeping Angels. I watched Blink in my basement with the lights off by myself. I didn't realize it was going to be the single scariest episode of the show. Every time they come back my blood pressure goes up (in a fun way).

6. Favorite Special Episode

The Waters of Mars. Those Martians were the second creepiest monster at that point (third now with the Silence) and the episode in general was brilliant. I still get chills when the Doctor says that the laws of time are his and they will obey him... Apparently I get chills when I think of the Doctor saying it too. Also, it has this part:

7. Favorite Season

Even though David Tennant is my favorite Doctor and Donna is my favorite companion, I'm going to say my favorite season is 6. Overall I like Steven Moffat's writing better than Russell Davies' and season 6 was phenomenal. You've got The Silence, 'The Doctor's Wife' (episode written by Neil Gaiman!!!), Rory being a complete bad ass right before he cries after meeting his baby daughter, River Song's story, 'Let's Kill Hitler'... the whole season is amazing.

8. Least Favorite Season

My instinct is to say season one, but there are too many awesome things in that season. I know a lot of people don't like it, but I appreciate it so much when I go back now. Every good scifi show is campy in the beginning, it's got Bad Wolf, Captain Jack, Harriett Jones... okay, maybe the list is a little shorter than I thought.

9. Favorite Master

This is where seeing only a handful of the pre-2005 episodes is making me sad. I've only known one master. Okay, two. Cause he regenerates in Utopia. So I guess I do have a choice and my choice is John Simm. I promise, I really am making my way through the earlier episodes (at least the ones available on Netflix instant)

10. Saddest Episode

Journey's End. Two horribly depressing things happen. First, the Doctor leaves Rose his human clone. He can't tell her he loves her because he knows he can't stay. Then he watches as the woman he loves hard core makes out with his human clone and he just turns and walks back into his Tardis. Good for Rose for getting the human Doctor, but the real Doctor has to leave it all behind. Again.

That's sad, but the second thing breaks me every time I watch the episode. Donna loses her memory. She doesn't remember anything she did with the Doctor. The DoctorDonna ceases to exist. She goes back to her petty life. Ugh, it's making me sad just thinking about it. Seriously though, I would be less upset if she had died. To go through what she did and become the person she was only to have it all taken away?! CURSE YOU RUSSELL DAVIES! Or maybe that one was Steven Moffat... All I can say is Moffat better fix this for the 50th anniversary.

Huh. It's 11:53 now. I just took me 45 minutes to get through a third of the questions. I'm thinking I'll continue this another time.

Saturday afternoon. What a wonderful time to continue this post and shirk my responsibilities.

11. Funniest Episode

I actually read through all the episode titles because I remembered hilarious moments, but I wasn't as sure about a single episode. Then I remembered 'The Eleventh Hour.' It's the first episode for Matt Smith as The Doctor, Karen Gillan as Amy Pond (Karen was actually in an episode in season 4), Arthur Darvill as Rory Williams, and Steven Moffat as head writer. Boy do they all make an impression (especially Smith and Moffat). Matt Smith's hilarity made seeing David Tennant's exit MUCH easier to bare. I wish I could post the whole episode because it really is fantastic, but here are some highlights.

Okay, so this clip isn't so much funny as it is awesome. Still give me chills!

This is some of the hilariousness:

And this:

12. Episode that Scared You Most

'Blink.' Hands down. Flat out terrifying. At least when you aren't laughing at lines like "This is my timey-wimey detector. Goes 'ding' when there's stuff," and "People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but *actually* from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint , it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly... time-y wimey... stuff."

13. Favorite Theme Song

Season 4. It gets a little more rock and roll than the previous seasons.

14. Character You Like that Everyone Else Hates

I think this again will be Donna. But there are few characters that people don't like...

15. Most Annoying Character

Rose's mom. She's whiney. I don't really want to spend time talking about her.

16. Favorite Actor

I really can't say enough about David Tennant. I've seen him in several things since Doctor Who, and he's brilliant in everything.

17. Least Favorite Actor

Probably Noel Clarke who plays Mickey Smith. It could also just be Mickey's character, but I'm not a fan.

18. Favorite Actress

Alex Kingston. River Song. 'Nuff said.

19. Least Favorite Actress

Kylie Minogue. I guess she's an Australian singer and she was in an episode of Doctor Who. I hated her character (again, Davies' fault) and she really wasn't impressing me with the acting either.

20. Favorite Writer

As far as head writers go, Steven Moffat is fantastic. His story arcs are longer and more interesting, his single episodes are scarier and more intense while hilarious at the same time, and it's laughable at how much better he is at writing female characters. (Still not great there, though. I personally have no issues with Amy or River as characters [although I know some people do], but he did a despicable job writing Irene Adler.)

Even so, the one episode Neil Gaiman wrote was perfect. That man not only writes all the things, but he writes all the things impeccably. I highly recommend you watch his episode, 'The Doctor's Wife' as well as anything else he's ever done (American Gods, Sandman, Neverwhere, Anansi Boys, Coraline, Stardust, Graveyard Book... the list goes on and on).

21. Favorite Couple

Before I started watching season... either 5 or 6, I saw a meme somewhere that had a picture of Amy and Rory that said, "Warning: Their story may be more interesting than the Doctor's." Turns out, that wasn't far from the truth. Amy and Rory are the best.

22. Favorite Friendship

While I love the DoctorDonna, I feel like the friendship between Amy and the Doctor is way more developed. I'm sure Catherine Tate and David Tennant are friends, but there's a special chemistry between Karen Gillan and Matt Smith that is really hard to beat. The writing helps too, Moffat seems to focus more on relationships than Davies did.

23. Favorite Doctor Who Spinoff

Well, I've only seen one, but I love it. Torchwood with John Barrowman as Captain Jack (one of my favorite characters). It's a lot darker and more adult than Doctor Who, but it's still excellent (at least the seasons in the UK. I haven't seen it since it moved to the States and I haven't heard great things - but I'll still watch it).

24. Favorite Quote

This is mean... There are too many amazing quotes from Doctor Who.

10th Doctor: "This is my timey wimey detector. Goes 'ding' when there's stuff."

10th Doctor: "People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint , it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly... time-y wimey... stuff."

10th Doctor: "I just wanna mate."
Donna: "You just want TO mate?!"
10th Doctor: "A mate, I want a mate."
Donna: "Oi, you're not mating with me, Sunshine!"

10th Doctor: "Come on, we can all have a good flirt later!"
Shakespeare: "Is that a promise, Doctor?"
10th Doctor: "Oh... fifty-seven academics just punched the air."

Cyberman: "We have 5 million Cybermen. How many are you?"
Dalek: "Four."
Cyberman: "You would destroy the Cybermen with four Daleks?"
Dalek: "We would destroy the Cybermen with one Dalek! You are superior in only one respect."
Cyberman: "What is that?"
Dalek: "You are better at dying!"

11th Doctor: She's my Tardis. Except, she's a woman. She's a woman... and my Tardis!
Amy: She's the Tardis?!
11th Doctor: ...and she's a woman
Amy: Did you wish really hard?
11th Doctor: Shut up! It's not like that.
Tardis/Idris: Hi, I'm Sexy.
11th Doctor: Still shut up!

Jamie/The 10th Doctor: Are you my mummy?

11th Doctor: Rory, take Hitler and put him in that cupboard over there.

Rory: Shut up, Hitler!

River Song: Well, I was on my way to this gay gypsy bar mitzvah for the disabled when I thought, "Gosh, the Third Reich's a bit rubbish. I think I'll kill the Furher."

9th Doctor: And I want to find a blonde in a Union Jack. I mean, a specific one. I didn't just wake up this morning with a craving.

11th Doctor: There's something here that doesn't make sense. Let's go and poke ti with a stick.

10th Doctor: PHYSICS! Physics, physics, physics, physics, physics, physics, physics, physics, physics, physics, physics... physics, physics, physics, physics...

Tardis/Idris: Biting's excellent. It's like kissing, only there's a winner.

11th Doctor: Sorry, do you have a name?
Tardis/Idris: 700 years and finally he asks.
11th Doctor: But what do I call you?
Tardis/Idris: I think you call me... Sexy.
11th Doctor: Only when we're alone.
Tardis/Idris: We are alone.
11th Doctor: Oh. Come one then, Sexy.

Mickey: That old lady's staring.
Captain Jack: Probably wondering what four people were doing in a small box.
Mickey: What are you captain of? The Innuendo Squad?

And really, so many more.

25. Favorite Doctor Catch Phrase

Allons-y!

26. Favorite Doctor Gadget

Does he have another gadget besides the sonic screwdriver? Timey wimey detector, but that's only in one episode... the 10th Doctor licks things a lot and Eleven tends to put things in his mouth... I'm sure there are more, but I can't place them. I'm going to pull an innuendo here and say the Doctor's tongue.

27. Favorite Interview

My fandom has not reached this level yet.

28. Favorite Gif

Probably one of the quotes above. I tend to skim through gifs and not care about them too much.

29. Favorite Guest Star

Easy. Simon Pegg in 'The Long Game.' Even as a villain I couldn't hate him.

30. When did you become a fan of Doctor Who?

Sadly, not until December of 2011. Since then, I have kind of exploded all the Doctor Who things.

Geekery Abounds in Europe

These are some of my Geek pictures from Europe. It's missing several including the very best one, namely myself and the TARDIS at Earl's Court (consequently the location of another geek site - who here reads Neil Gaiman?), but it will come hopefully soon. That one was taken on an SD card that I don't have access to at the moment. But I'll add it when it comes. So hooray for me geeking out in Europe! Most of the references are from Doctor Who but IT Crowd, Danger 5, Hercules, Asterix, The Simpsons, and Midnight in Paris make appearances.

For all you IT Crowd fans. I was under the assumption that the UK changed their emergency number to 011-8-999-881-99-9119-725-3

The next few pictures are from the Doctor Who prop museum in the back of the Who Shop in London (yes, I did spend 60 pounds there). These props are legit and really used in the series. I was crazy excited. The entrance to the museum was the TARDIS door. I got to unlock it with the key. I basically died. This first picture is one of the first Cybermen!

One of the consoles used in the series.

EXTERMINATE!

Vincent Van Gough's outfit. One of my favorite episodes.

K-9!

The coat used by Captain Jack Harkness. If I had stood in front of it a bit longer I probably would have gotten pregnant with Captain Jack's baby.

One of Tom Baker's outfits. Who doesn't love the scarves of the Fourth Doctor?

The sign at the entrance of the shop. I was happy.

Bliss. This place was pure bliss. I could have spent all day there. They had Buffy stuff too!

This is a Doctor Who/IT Crowd crossover. Upton Park is the stop you get off to go to the Who Shop. West Ham United is the football team Roy pretends to support in the pub. Did you see that ludicrous display last night?

The Eiffel Tower where it was supposed to be - in Paris. Not as part of a pile of national monuments constructed in honor of Hitler. (Danger 5, anyone? ...anyone?)

These were a little too much like Weeping Angels for my comfort level. This was at Versailles towards the beginning of the trip and ever since then I was constantly looking over my shoulder.

No Krafayis in the window! The Doctor and Amy really did visit Vincent Van Gough.

I didn't stumble upon this building at midnight, but I was in Paris!

SANCTUARY!

Why yes, this gargoyle on top of Notre Dame DID burst into song.

Speaking of song, I had "Zero to Hero" stuck in my head for a while after seeing this.

Speaking of Disney's Hercules, I think we all know how Venus lost her arms.

This is one of my favorites. This is a sculpture of a Ceasar in ancient Rome. Does he look familiar? Especially to those of you who watch Doctor Who? DOES HE LOOK EXACTLY LIKE THE NINTH DOCTOR?! The answer is yes. He looks exactly like the Ninth Doctor. Proof that the Doctor is real and Torchwood created the TV show to trick us all.

Yep, even Winged Glory reminded me of the Weeping Angels.

THERE'S AN ASTERIX PARK?! If I had known that, I would have made time to visit.

Another stone statue scaring me to death watching over Chopin.

These Weeping Angels were downright unnerving.

Again, scared for my life.

I ran from this one.

At least these two are looking at each other...

What if David is really a giant Weeping Angel?

There's got to be a giant Bart Simpson somewhere who could make good use of this giant sling shot tree.

More proof that The Doctor exists. Who else would have the resources to take Sylvester Stallone back in time to pose for Rafael?

I though I was finished with the Weeping Angels, then I walked into St. Peter's. These angels were the real deal. I walked away from them (backwards, of course) and ran outside to find...

Angels all over freaking St. Peter's square.
